~ Do you Believe In Yourself? ~

~ Do you Believe In Yourself? ~
When you look in the mirror do you really believe in yourself, do you really know who you are and what you stand for? I really didn’t have a clue for many years as I reacted to situations and never really even asked myself the questions. If I told you to ‘just believe in in yourself’, you would probably find this too difficult to do straight away, but there is a process that makes this really possible.
I want to share with you a little analogy ~ there are only 2 ways to physically determine your eye colour. Firstly you can look into the mirror and secondly you can ask people to tell you what colour you have. It doesn’t matter how intelligent you are, those are the only ways we have of determining this. Let’s say you have blue eyes when you look into the mirror, but everyone else tells you that you have brown eyes, you will be forced to believe your eyes are brown. This is because it’s human nature to believe in others before you. Most of us have never really seen our true reflection, who we really are, our true authentic self.
When you receive inaccurate information you develop negative information about yourself, negative limiting beliefs, you can’t do it, you’re not worth it etc.
You’re real authentic self knows you are good enough, but the negative reflection will tell you everything to stop you doing it, you’re a failure, you’re not good enough. Does this sound familiar; all humans have these voices holding us back.
‘Why don’t you just believe in yourself………’
How many times have you tried something just to fall back into your old ways?
So when someone believes in you first, and then you start to believe in ‘the someone’, in turn you will start believing in you.
We all need people in our lives to see things in us that we don’t see in ourselves.
Think back over your life to when someone saw something greater in you, didn’t you feel good? You find this hard to believe, as you can’t perceive your own value.
I will share with you a few family examples of this. Ian dreamt of being a pilot all of his life but he was told that he wouldn’t be ‘good enough’ to do the job (I hasten to add, this was coming from a place of love as his family wanted to keep him ‘safe’), so he started out life in engineering. I met Ian when I was 20 years old and had total belief in his dream, he then started to believe in himself and joined the Royal Navy. My son has an incredibly difficult job in the banking world, and he felt very insecure at the start of his career but because his boss at total belief in his skills he was able to secure an early promotion.
It is only now that I am in a place where I totally believe in myself, my work , why I’m here and now my whole life makes sense to me, I feel incredible and peace and passion at the same time. Many people have helped me on my journey, believing in me, I trusted them and began to believe in myself.
After spending around 35 years needing and wanting my own mother to ‘approve and accept’ me I ‘let go’ of the ‘need’ and am in an amazing place now that mum totally values my work, but not only that she has offered a dream come true for me……………in a couple of years time to have her little cottage for holistic retreats in Shropshire. This is the icing on the cake for me.
So find someone (a friend, a family member, a mentor, a coach….) who will give you unconditional support ~ this is a huge step in removing your negative self reflection, as it takes loving support and encouragement from a mentor or friend to show you what you are truly capable of.
I would love you to share your experiences here.
